CAHMA OPENING EXHIBITION LAUNCH 2020 MARCH 18
On the 18th March 2020 CAHMA launched an Art From the Heart of Canberra exhibition to celebrate the opening of the new CAHMA Community Centre. The exhibition showcases the talents and strengths of people who use drugs and helps fight the dominant narratives and stereotypes about us. As you look through the works at the exhibition make sure you read the powerful, brave and honest stories the artists have told during their creative journeys. As you view and read through the exhibition CAHMA hopes you gain a better understanding and appreciation of the true strength, determination, grit and spirit of people who use drugs as they live their lives. If any of the artworks reach out and touch your heart, or make you feel alive, then please think about taking the piece home with you as a symbol of your connection to the community and to CAHMA. Successful bids on artwork will receive the painting, display card with story and certificate confirming it is an original Art From the Heart of Canberra creation. All artworks at the CAHMA Opening Exhibition were created by CAHMA service users and supporters over the last 6 months.
The exhibition can be seen in the CAHMA Community Centre and online for 4 weeks (until 18th April 2020) at the end of which period bids will be finalised and lucky winners notified.
People can purchase the art by entering a silent bidding process (explained below in ART SALES bidding form).
Note that CAHMA can only accept cash and the entire sale amount is passed on to the artist.
Framed Artworks
For the framed artworks CAHMA will take money invested in the frame (up to $30) and the rest of the amount will be passed on to the artist.
Anonymous artists
If you would like to buy a painting from the anonymous artist – your money will be used to purchase the art supplies we need for our next art workshop.
All the paintings signed as Anonymous are the artworks that members of the CAHMA art group donated to CAHMA for the sole purpose of purchasing new art supplies from the sale of their artwork.
This project is not funded and to enable us to continue, it needs to be self-sufficient.
Thank you for supporting our art activities with your purchase.
ART SALES bidding form
If you want to buy an artwork you can participate in the silent auction by filling out the ART SALES bidding form.
The highest bidder for each artwork will be the successful purchaser.
In the event that two people bid the same amount, a name will be drawn out of a hat.
Successful bidders will be notified by our art team, and arrangements made for cash payment and collection of artwork
Unsuccessful bidders will not be notified
If we can't contact the highest bidder in a timely manner, the next highest bidder will be offered the artwork
Note that we can only accept cash and the entire sale amount is passed on to the artist.
